“Mickey, is Devon here?” “Yeah. He’s got a lot of dried blood on him.” Mickey says. Kelly nods her head with a few. Uh, huhs. “In his room?” Kelly asks. She doesn’t even move as a one-armed Devon rushes into the living room. “Get down!” Devon says as bullets fly into the apartment through the sliding glass door to the balcony. Devon dives at Mickey. They fly over the couch as a bullet zips into the apartment. It hits Devon square into the same shoulder already hurt. Mickey gasps for air. “Get off me, you big oaf!” He rolls Devon off him and, then, notices the bullet wound. “Shit! Man! You saved my life.” Devon lies moaning. Kelly gulps. She looks at Devon. He isn’t moving. She gasps. “Mickey! Get Devon over here!”
“Yeah. Easier said than done, Kell.” Mickey retorts. More gunfire enters the apartment. “Now! His life depends!” Kelly shouts. “Alright!” Screams Mickey. He grabs a hold of Devon and pulls him towards Kelly. “Damn it, man! You are heavy!” He sees the bullet lodged in Devon’s right shoulder on his back. It shines. What the fuck? Bullets barely miss Mickey’s head as he continues to drag Devon over to Kelly, who is ducked inside the kitchen. She notices the gleam of the bullet lodged in Devon’s back. “Great.” She mutters. “Mickey, you’re gonna hate what I ask you to do next.” “Let me get there first.” Mickey says scooting along the floor as he pulls Devon. He hears Devon wincing. “Sorry, man. You’ve been shot and you’re fucking heavy.” He reaches the kitchen and pulls Devon inside. The bullets seem to halt, for now. Mickey and Kelly see the laser dots on the wall of the dining room. Mickey is huffing and puffing. “Kelly, what the hell is going on?” He glares at Kelly. “Those snipers are hunters.” Kelly says. “They know two lycans live here and broke the law of staying hidden.” Mickey closes his eyes and shakes his head. “W-what? Two lycans? What the fuck is a lycan?” Kelly huffs and rolls her eyes. “Lycan is short for lycanthrope. Werewolves are the most common. A lycanthrope is one that can transform into an animal – human hybrid or an animal by choice.” Kelly explains. “Why did you say two? I knew Devon was one? Who’s the other?” Mickey says. “He told you, huh?” Kelly raises a brow. They don’t hear anymore bullets firing. Kelly gulps. “No more shots being fired.” Mickey says. “For now…” Kelly quips. She looks at Devon and, then, back up at Mickey. “I need you to do something for me… I cannot do it.” “What? Remove the silver bullet in Devon’s shoulder?” Kelly nods sheepishly. Mickey’s eyes widen. “Wait… You’re the other lycan, aren’t you?” “Yes. I would do it, but silver burns my skin.” Kelly admits. “Please, do this for Dev and I.” She pleads. “The silver is poisoning him.”
